A legacy of protection

PBI® fiber is well known among firefighters… and for good reason. It’s known for providing great protection and comfort. By combining PBI® fiber with DuPont® Kevlar® fiber and filament, TenCate Protective Fabrics engineered a top-of-the-line outer shell fabric. PBI® XT is the most popular PBI® outer shell on the market. PBI® XT serves as the choice of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). Tough enough to face any challenge, this legendary material boasts a traditional rip-stop appearance that firefighters recognize instantly. 

Engineered to provide the best protection possible, PBI® XT also provides comfort and ease of movement. By using Kevlar® filament yarns that are then reinforced with an additional wrapping of blended PBI® yarn, this outer shell fabric provides more PBI® protection than any other outer shell on the market.
